two-day digital photography class went over great!!! Leesville High (Raleigh NC)

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

J held another two-day intensive digital photography class at Leesville High School this week Monday and Wednesday. Students were very enthusiastic and they were very much involved in the class. J was blessed to have so many nice students. Questions came up are the followings: how to take night scene pictures, how to take sports pictures, how to take kids pictures, and what the most important features of digital photography.

Students learned two basic things on their first day – ISO settings and White balances. They learned two more additional important things on their second day – Shutter speeds and apertures. J explained the effects of shutter speeds, differences among aperture values, types of lenses, types of cameras, and types of hot-shoe flashes.

J plans to open three-day intensive course Fall 2010. Students were asked for longer classes and hands-on classes; therefore, he plans to offer three-day photography course this year and then four-day photography course next year (Spring 2011).

day 1 – iso and white balances

day 2 – shutter and aperture

day 3 – outdoor photography (will be added in Fall 2010)

day 4 – business of photography (will be added in Spring 2011)

He plans to summarize the presentations he attended. The PPNC speakers are industry leading photographers who came from other states, Florida, Virginia, and our state North Carolina. Thanks to them for giving such wonderful presentations.

PPNC convention at the Sheraton Imperial Durham NC

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Raleigh photographer J joined a PPNC convention at the Sheraton Imperial Durham NC today. He has been waiting for the convention for a whole year. He first joined it last year and he learned so much of photography. He also really enjoyed meeting new people and new photographers. NC photographers from cities of NC came over to participate the PPNC convention. It was very exciting to meet that many of NC photographers.

During lunch break, Raleigh photographer J went out to meet a potential client at the Brier Creek Shopping Center. The bride-to-be was very kind and nice. She came to meet me with her mother. It was blessing for me to meet such nice people. J could sense their nice personality. As usual, J offered a great to them. It is exciting to book them for her wedding day.

In the evening, J had a family portrait photography with one of his church members. The family of three came over to J’s studio around 6 p.m. to be photographed for their session. They enjoyed the photography session.

PUG meeting on Thursday

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Raleigh photographer J attended a PUG meeting on Thursday to meet other NC photographers. It is a Pictage User Group hosted by Frank and Elizabeth. It was a great meeting. We had two wedding industry speakers: Joy Edwards and Gail Stephenson. The topics were for beginner photographers and as well as for advanced photographers on how to market for the event and wedding photography. They told us that event planners, first of all, like photographers who dress appropriately and formally. Planners also like photographers who devote their time and efforts to make their clients happy. We also discussed about educating our clients on prices and types of  albums, and importance of wedding planners and photographers. Wedding photography is all about brides and grooms in the events, not for the wedding photographers, nor for the wedding planners.  We NC photographers agree that the wedding photography is all about bride and groom and other clients being happy.
